Having your session in your own space is a perfect opportunity to create a quiet, comfortable and relaxing environment.  You will be asked to lay on a massage table and depending on preference offered soft music in the background, or simply enjoy the quiet  space.
How come I feel pain in my ________when I didn’t feel it at the beginning of the session? As layers of tension and restrictions are removed in the fascia, an old injury and the pain that came with it may resurface.  When the body remembers experiences, sensations or emotions it is called tissues memory.  Traumatic injuries are stored in the brain as a physical event and the body may need to go into an old pattern to release.  A person may repeat motions involved in their original traumatic injury, there may be pain or strong emotions associated with that.  Once the trauma action is released it is no longer held by the body and improvement of wellbeing occurs.  Any discomfort should dissipate within a day or two.
To better understand your needs and goals you may be asked some brief questions at the beginning of the session.  It is recommended that you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing as you will remain dressed during the session, also removing belts, head/hair accessories, jewelry and shoes for your comfort.
What Should I Expect In a  CST Session?
I didn’t feel much, why not? The therapist generally applies no more than 5 grams of pressure (weight of a nickel).  Using delicate manual techniques and light touch makes it easier to get a release when working with fascia and the fluid of the central nervous system.  Each person has individual experiences depending on what is released.  Some people feel very relaxed or fall asleep, some can feel everything and your body may continue to process for several days. You may have a sense of change or improvement over time and your reaction later may be different than your reaction you have today.
